Bible readings for the Mass: Deuteronomy 4:32-34, 39-40; Romans 8:14-17; and Matthew 28:16-20
Saya kaget dan sekali lagi, saya bilang terima kasih dan please pray for me. I don’t like going to church. It is boring.”
My dear brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ,
This Sunday we celebrate one of the greatest mysteries of our Christian faith, the solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. One day St. Augustine was walking on the beach contemplating the mystery of the Trinity. Then he saw a boy in front of him who had dug a hole in the sand and was going out to the sea again and again and bringing some water to pour into the hole. St. Augustine asked him, “What are you doing?” “I’m going to pour the entire ocean into this hole.” “That is impossible, the whole ocean will not fit in the hole you have made” said St. Augustine. The boy replied, “And you cannot fit the Trinity in your tiny little brain.”
This afternoon we are not trying to understand the whole mystery of the Trinity. But by celebrating the feast of the Trinity, we are reminded of how God loves us and keeps His relationship with us.
Pertama, Allah mengizinkan kita memanggilanNya sebagai Bapa. Jesus called God his Father, but He called in a special way. Jesus called his Father “Abba”, an Aramaic word, which means “Daddy.” Here Jesus wants to tell us that now we do not look on God as distant from us.
God sent his Son among us and to be one like us. At Christmas, the baby Jesus is described with the name “Emmanuel” which means God is with us. Because of Jesus, we really see how much our Abba cares for us as Pope Francis said, “In the person of Jesus, we can see the face of the Father’s mercy”. Our God is so faithful. He is always there to journey with us.
Ketiga, Allah menjadikan diriNya sebagai penolong. Before Jesus ascended into Heaven he promised us a Helper. Last Sunday we celebrated the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. The Holy Spirit is to help and lead us to the truth. When the Apostles received the Holy Spirit, their fear and depression were gone. They could face life again and continue to proclaim the Gospel.
My dear brothers and sisters,
God has made Himself so close to us that he even became one with us, suffering and dying for us. This is because He loves us, not because we are sinners. So, this afternoon, God does not only asks us to know and understand Him but also invites us to accept and embrace the relationship He has started by loving Him and others.
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”
So let us turn our eyes to the Holy Trinity; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit to ask for strength and courage as we move forward to witness the Gospel in our family, community, and world. Remember that “only with the Lord Jesus Christ, there is true joy and the fullness of life.
God bless you all. AMEN.
