WHAT IS THE EUCHARIST?
The Eucharist: from the Last Supper
- The Eucharist is an action of thanksgiving to God
- The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life.
- It is the culmination of God’s action and worship.
- Unite with the heavenly liturgy and anticipate eternal life.
- The Eucharist is the sum and summary of our faith.
The Fruits of the Holy Communion
- Holy Communion augments our union with Christ.
- Holy Communion separates us from sin.
- The unity of the Mystical Body: the Eucharist makes the Church.
- The Eucharist commits us to the poor.
- The Eucharist and the unity of Christians.
What is Necessary to Receive the Holy Communion Worthily?
- Free from mortal and venial sin
- Have the right intention
- Obey the Church’s laws on the fast required
WHAT IS OUR RESPONSE?
- It is God’s grace and invitation for everyone.
- It is free and for our benefit.
- It requires our faith and readiness.
- Reverence and respect
WHAT IS OUR PASTORAL WISDOM?
- God’s grace is for everyone, and God is out looking for us.
- Help people come to God and receive His blessings.
- God is the only judge, and we are his children.
